do you ever have that moment whenever you realize how undeserving you are of all that is going on around you? it’s like a deep joy felt in your gut. a pure, overwhelming happiness. sometimes it brings a smile to your face, sometimes tears to your eyes. you become so aware of grace and mercy. of love and kindness. and you know there is no way you could have earned it? you couldn’t have even asked for it, it’s just so much better than anything you ever could have thought? these moments could happen on an airplane. through the mysteries of modern technology you get to fly through the air above the clouds and see the beauty of the Earth below you. it could be moving to a new place. not sure why you’re moving, but so thankful that you are that tears come to your eyes in public places. It could be realizing the privileges you have. Financial maybe. The moment could come when you’re simply sharing a meal with friends that you all cooked together. It might come even stronger when you’re washing dishes together. It could happen when you’re walking down the street taking in the sight of new shops and new people. It could happen when you have a good, honest conversation with a friend. or even with a total stranger. It could come in learning new things. It may come when you lay down at night and feel the breeze on your face or the rain falling on the roof as you fall asleep. It could come when you wake up to cars driving on the street below and the sun blindingly waking you up. It is sure to come in simplicity. And discovery. It could come in a good laugh. It may come in having faith for something you can’t see yet. It can come on cloudy days or perfectly sunny days. It comes through the green of the trees. It comes through reading psalms or even Romans. It may come through music sung together or music played overhead. It comes in a good cup of tea.
and if you’re somehow lucky enough to be me, it comes through all these things.
